Lift technology

Whether you are looking for a spindle driven truck lift with a leverage of 50 metric tons, an orchestra lift on Spira’s or a hydraulic freight lift that is also suited for personnel, DTS² is your partner.

Every lift unit is unique. Needs and demands vary for each particular situation: application, lifting system, speeds, safety requirements, lifting load, overall height, mounting clearance, you name it and we will deliver.

Types of lifts

Within the world of theatres there are many different types of lifts, depending on the application area.

Orchestra lifts

Orchestra lifts are actually freight lifts. However, they are not used to lift freight. It is the installation where the orchestra sits on. The orchestra lift must provide a stable platform for the orchestra at different but precise positionable heights. Precision is important because of the line of sight and acoustic characteristics of the hall.

Freight lifts

The freight lifts mentioned here meet all relevant requirements and are not specifically designed for the entertainment industry. Such lifts must be equipped with protective shielding, fences and other safety devices, depending on safety requirements and regulations.

You can choose from a variety of lifting capacities and speeds, depending on your wishes. Lots of modifications are possible. We can design and deliver your lift according to your requirements.

Truck and lorry lifts

The legal norms for freight lifts also apply to lorry lifts. However, when it comes to design and calculation of forces, extra attention is needed for the fact that the point loads (wheel loads) are high (up to 5 metric tons) and that they move over the entire platform. Apart from this, extra guides and solidifications are needed on account of horizontal (brake)forces of the lorry.

Lifting systems

There is a wide variety in ways of lifting loads. The best method depends on your wishes and requests, and the details of the location. Points of consideration are:

  • The required maximum lifting capacity
  • The required maximum lifting speed
  • The lifting height
  • The available pit depth
  • Guiding possibilities
  • Indoor or outdoor application
  • Required stability

Based on these and other considerations, a lifting system can be selected or designed. Possible options are:

  • Hydraulic lifts
  • Spindle lifts
  • Spira lifts
  • Push chain lifts
  • The possibility of guidance
  • Guided hoist systems
  • Every system has its pros and cons. Our engineers will identify your needs and will then advice you on the best solution.
